Thanks Curbs...again!

You gotta feel sorry for Curbs. He did such a sterling job for us and I really did think he would go to West Ham and give them a bit of belief, fight and determination. But, it looks like whatever was rotten when Pards was there is still inherent in the squad and is driving them to self destruction, and its difficult to see what they can do to turn it around. The win on Saturday was probably embarrassing for them. The fans I spoke to before the game thought it was going to be 3 points in the bag, and would be the start of their revival. There have also been some conspiracy theories flying about that Curbs doesnt want to see all the hard work he put in go to waste, and see us relegated the first season without him. Obviously a load of bull, but big thanks to Curbs for still helping us win - even after leaving...

A drubbing and this time of the season hurts, particularly when its against one of the teams that its vitally important to stop. We have such an opportunity at our feet right now. The Club had an awful run of fixtures to start the season, so I am glad that we have most of the big boys out of the way, and can focus on beating the teams around us. The Hammers result was the first, but it will mean bugger all if we can't beat Watford on Saturday, especially with Wigan picking up another win.

Curbs leaving this Club was a very sad day indeed, we had real problems here for a while, but whatever you think of Pardew he has managed to inject a good mentality back into the team, and they look like they want to play for each other again. Lets hope that will be enough to keep us up for yet another year.

Lost...1 nil, roll on United

Ah well, everyone predicted a loss, and it happened so no real surprise there. Shame the only goal came from a Charlton error too. If Faye had half a brain we could have been sitting here a point clear of West Ham who got beaten by the Villa. I was banking on Pompey doing us a favour today though, but Wigan picked up another 3 points and that 5 point gap looks huge now.

Next Saturday's league table could be grim reading too. We have a trip to Old Trafford, which is traditionally 3 points down the drain, and it means the Hammers have a chance of doing something against Watford. Lets hope they give them what for again and we manage to nick something - we are well overdue a win against United. Yeah I know, unlikely, but you live in hope!

Nut job

I've always thought Hermann was a bit on the weird side. Although lots of passion, he strikes me as one of these guys that could lose the plot any second and murder everyone on the pitch. This little quote from an guy who interviewed him doesn't do a lot to change my view.

"He has a dry and slightly manic wit. He laughs a lot, usually at unexpected moments, and slams things with his hand as he chats"

Seems like the mannerisms of a total nut job to me.

Excitiement at last!

Yeah yeah its been a while since my last update. No excuses, lots of reasons including "CBA" (Couldn't Be Arsed), but with the excitement we have at the moment, I was drawn back to witter on a bit more.

After a few years of boring Premiership survival we are suddenly in a real battle. Most people might have hoped it would be a battle for a European spot, but in all honesty there was always more chance of us getting into a relegation dogfight than finishing in a European position. Many moaned about Curbs' negative tactics (I hold my hands up), but who could have predicted the mess the Club, let alone the team, would get into after his departure. A lot has been made of the four Manager's we've had this year, but for me, I'm glad we finally have a Manager with more personalilty than a dried prune (sorry Curbs but its true), though whether we pull of the great escape is yet to be decided.

I'm not interested in the Chelsea result, nor the Man Ure game, we will probably end up with bugger all from those, but the fact we picked up 4 points from Pompey and Bolton means we are still not dead and buried. The games that are going to plot our future will be West Ham, Watford, possibly Newcastle and Wigan. All of these games are "winnable" and with a bit of hard work, some spectacular luck, and maybe a little bit of quality thrown in somewhere, we could come out of those fixtures with life looking a bit more rosey. Even after those we still have fixtures against Man City, Reading and Sheffield United so all in all, we have our destiny in our own hands. Lets see if Super Al can motivate the boys enough to give us another shot at the big league.
